Getting Ahead Program:

This program is based on the book by Phil DeVol ,“Getting Ahead in a Just Getting By World”. In this program participants participate in a 15 week, “Getting Ahead” workshop that is focused on building resources. Participants are encouraged to create a “future story” for themselves (dream about the life they want to have for themselves and their family) and set goals for accomplishing these dreams.

Each participant is paired with a caseworker and mentors to help with the steps to accomplish goals, encourage progress, celebrate accomplishments, and hold them accountable to their goals.

The Mission just graduated 15 participants from the first Getting Ahead Program. Three participants are now continuing their college education, two have returned to earn their GED, and two others have secured employment. The others are on their way. Out of the 15 graduates, only three have required additional financial assistance.

We are proud of our graduates and believe that it proves the most valuable gift you can give anyone is encouragement and belief in themselves.
